The Russian Classical Method is based on the simultaneous and integrated development of the five main elements of mastering the piano:
1. Acquiring fundamental technical skills - hand position, posture, finger dexterity, hands' coordination and power.
2. Music reading skills and sight-reading skills. From the very first lesson, students learn music notation and practice skills to read music like reading a book.
3. Mastering different means of musical expression, such as: control over the quality of tone; delivering musical character, phrasing, articulation, dynamics, and balance; using the pedals.
4. Development of a musical ear, memory, and a sense of rhythm by special exercises.
5. Quality of repertoire. One of the most important components of the Method is the quality of the repertoire. From the beginning, the repertoire emphasizes the works of J.S.Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Schumann, and Schubert. The repertoire for each student is individually selected to meet his/her personality, technical skills and objectives, as well as to inspire his/her musical imagination. Through learning the works of the greatest composers, students develop musical taste and an appreciation of classical music.
